Hi friend,
Our latest episode of The Covered Call is out! This time, we sat down with Lobo Tiggre.
Many of you will know Lobo from the resource investing world, where he has built a reputation for rigorous due diligence, contrarian thinking, and a willingness to stand apart from the crowd.
But that is not really what we wanted to talk to him about.
We were more interested in the mindset behind it.
What does it actually take to think for yourself?
How do you build enough conviction to disagree with the herd without simply becoming stubborn?
What does freedom look like once it stops being an abstract political idea and starts becoming something personal?
Lobo had one of the more interesting answers we have heard on the show: He describes freedom as creating “space to operate” around yourself.
That space can come from money, from eliminating debt, from resisting social expectations, from building useful skills, or simply from creating enough independence that you are no longer forced into decisions you do not want to make.
We also talked about the relationship between speculation and courage, why understanding something deeply can give you the confidence to stand alone, and why patience becomes hardest when the world appears to be proving you wrong.
Toward the end of the conversation, things became much more personal.
Lobo recently reached the point where his investments can support his lifestyle, and he no longer has to work.
His reaction?
He went straight back to work - Because he actually loves what he does.
At the same time, he reflected candidly on the cost of being too focused on achievement earlier in life, including a moment when his business crossed a major financial milestone and he realized that success had come with a high price.
This was one of those conversations that started with independent thinking and ended up touching on money, freedom, work, family, legacy, and what a successful life actually looks like.
We hope you enjoy it.
